Karla and Karina tie the knot! (and how uncomfortable a lot of people feel about that)

Karina and Karla
No, Im not talking about two of my best friends back home, this is the story of 2 females who decided to be together and live their life the way they want. One of them has the long nails and the long hair, the other has the shorter hair and its a bit less femenine.
They are a couple, and committed to their relationship they decided to take a step further and get married. One of them, stays at home, cooks, takes care of the house, the other goes out and work to be able to provide. They are not criminals, they both have families and they are like any other couple, like any other citizen with obligations and responsabilities.
Well, this is nothing new. At least not here where I am, in the San Francisco area, this is just another of the thousands of stories about gay and lesbian relationships. The problem with K&K is that they unfortunatedly live in Coahuila Mexico.
They were able to get married under a new legislation in that state that allows couples to get "married" just they call it a "civil union", which enables this 2 women to have benefits, and legal resources in case of anything as any other married "hetero" couple in Mexico.
But, we cannot ignore that my country, is still very far behind on progressive unions like the one described above. The ruling party is nothing but the conservative fundamentalist right mentality and ideology that will never, EVER allow homosexual people to live and have the same rights than heterosexuals.
PAN is a party of rich, conservative, elitist, yanqui loving morons. They hate anything that is different, they are able to influence society through their alliances with the catholic church. There have been statements from priests, and other "morally" right people against Karla and Karina, they have condemned their decision and compared this step as a copy-cat action to unholy societies like the ones in Europe and the United States.
Why cant gay people get married?, why? because its morally wrong? according to who? according to what?, they like people of the same sex, is that a sin?, according to who?, according to what?.
Every human being regardless of their sexual preferences has the same rights, human rights, not "gay-hetero-transgender-bi-black-jew-muslim...etc" kind of rights, we all have the right to live the way we want and the right to be protected from discrimination from the state.
I applaud not only these 2 females for going against all odds, against society, against the church, and agaisnt the critics, but I also stand up for the goverment of Coahuila, for having a progressive mind, the one that respects diversity and respects human and civil rights for all people, regardless of what they do in their personal life.
I sure hope this is the beggining of a new culture in our society, a more tolerant, understanding, non-judgemental generation.
